Assistant Accountant

£30,000 – £35,000 per annum

Cosham, Hampshire

Joining an established, friendly business within the construction industry, the successful candidate report to the Business Services Director, and will be responsible for:

  • Raising sales invoices in line with valuations, payment certificates, small works and rebate claims
  • Credit control / chasing up customers with overdue invoices to ensure swift payment
  • Management of Client Valuations, sales retentions and cash flow forecast spreadsheets
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Client statements – some raised manually
  • Banking cheques, allocating payments
  • Month end Trial Balance reconciliations, month end journals, accrual and prepayments
  • Liaising with Contracts Managers to create / update valuation templates, proof reading valuations, reminders when valuations and due, providing job costing reports if requested and advising them of payment discrepancies
  • Supervising Accounts Assistants
  • General duties such as some administration, answering phones / client queries when needed
  • Use of Sage 50

This role would really suit someone with a background in constructions accounts, though this is not essential as training can be given. Previous experience using Sage 50 Accounts would be highly beneficial, as would experience undertaking CIS returns. The company are looking for someone to work 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
